Step into a fresh, playful take on one of William Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. This inventive, abridged production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream reimagines the story on the campus of Governors State University—where administration, athletes, theatre kids, and counterculture kids collide in a whirlwind of mischief, magic, and mistaken identity. 

While the setting is contemporary, the production retains Shakespeare’s original language, allowing audiences to experience the beauty and rhythm of the text in a way that feels immediate, engaging, and alive. 

Performed by student artists from Theatre and Performance Studies in the intimate Sherman Hall, this accessible adaptation is perfect for junior high and high schoolers, senior audiences, and anyone new to—or rediscovering—Shakespeare.
