Sports Broadcasting Internship

Take your passion for sports and turn it into professional production experience through our Sports Broadcasting Internship. Students step behind the cameras of GovState athletics, learning every aspect of live event coverage — from setting up equipment and running cameras to directing, switching, and mixing live broadcasts. This Week at GovState (TWAG)

Take your creativity and curiosity and turn it into hands-on newsroom experience with This Week at GovState (TWAG), our student-produced weekly news show. Students step into every role of broadcast journalism — from researching stories and writing scripts to operating cameras, editing footage, and producing live segments. You’ll gain the confidence and skills to work in real-world media environments while telling the stories that matter most to our campus and community. Beyond just creating a show, this program immerses you in collaboration, communication, and the excitement of bringing a full news broadcast to life each week.

In 2012, facing escalating violence, Governors State University acted. Witnessing alarming statistics — with over 224 Chicago residents killed by gun violence — GovState responded by launching "Respond to Violence." Comprising educators, students, and community leaders, we are united in our commitment to address and prevent violence.
